What is the Dhamma Automatic?
Mudita Dhamma Automatic is a Swiss automatic watch released in a limited, numbered edition of 108 pieces. It commemorates the 13th Global Conference on Buddhism, held on 6 to 8 November 2026 at ICE Kraków.
Dhamma Automatic technical specification
Mudita Dhamma Automatic is a Swiss automatic watch with a Sellita SW300-1 Elaboré movement, a 39 mm titanium case and 5 ATM water resistance, released in a limited edition of 108 pieces.
What is the Dhamma Wheel on the Dhamma Automatic dial?
The Dhamma Wheel (Dharmachakra) is one of the oldest symbols of Buddhism and stands for the teachings of the Buddha. On the Mudita Dhamma Automatic it turns in the center of the dial and works as the seconds hand.
Why is the Dhamma Automatic limited to 108 pieces?
Only 108 pieces were made, because 108 is an important number in Buddhist traditions. For example, a mala, the string of beads used in Buddhism to count repetitions during meditation, has that many beads. Each piece has its own number.
Does the Dhamma Automatic have religious significance?
The Mudita Dhamma Automatic is a watch, not an object of worship. Anyone can wear it, regardless of worldview.
Is the Dhamma Automatic Swiss Made certified?
Yes. The Mudita Dhamma Automatic is a certified Swiss Made watch, assembled and regulated in Switzerland, with a movement from the Swiss company Sellita.
How does the Dhamma Automatic differ from the Element Automatic?
The Mudita Dhamma Automatic is based on the same slim 39 mm titanium case as the Mudita Element Automatic, but it has a seconds hand in the form of the Dhamma Wheel, a different case back and its own, shorter series.
How to start and wind the Dhamma Automatic
The Mudita Dhamma Automatic winds itself as you wear it. If the watch is new or has stood unused for more than 56 hours (its power reserve), start it manually by turning the crown.
How to set the time on the Dhamma Automatic
Gently pull out the crown, set the hands and push the crown back in. The watch has no date display, so you only set the time.
How to change the strap on the Dhamma Automatic
You can change the strap yourself, without tools, because it has a 20 mm quick release system. All original Mudita 20 mm straps fit the Mudita Dhamma Automatic, including those for the Mudita Element Automatic and the Mudita Moment Automatic.
How to take care of the Dhamma Automatic
Wipe the watch with a soft, dry cloth, protect it from strong magnetic fields, shocks and extreme temperatures, and have it serviced by a watchmaker every 2 to 3 years. With such care the movement lasts for decades.
Does the Dhamma Automatic need a battery or charging?
No. The Mudita Dhamma Automatic runs solely on mechanical energy from the movement of your wrist or from winding the crown by hand. It has no battery and no charger.
Does the Dhamma Automatic emit radiation?
No. The Mudita Dhamma Automatic has no battery, no electronics and no wireless transmitter. It runs purely mechanically.
How long does the Dhamma Automatic run when I am not wearing it?
A fully wound Mudita Dhamma Automatic runs for up to 56 hours without being worn. This is called the power reserve.
Is desk work enough to keep the Dhamma Automatic wound?
Usually yes. Everyday hand movements, such as walking or typing on a keyboard, are enough for the rotor, a weighted element of the movement, to wind the mainspring.
How accurate is the Dhamma Automatic?
The accuracy of the Mudita Dhamma Automatic is 5 ±5 seconds per day, meaning the watch may gain from 0 to 10 seconds per day.
Is the Dhamma Automatic waterproof?
The Mudita Dhamma Automatic has 5 ATM (50 m) water resistance. It will withstand rain, splashes and hand washing, but we do not recommend showering, bathing or swimming with it.
Does the Dhamma Automatic dial glow in the dark?
No. The hands and indexes of the Mudita Dhamma Automatic have no luminescent coating, so the dial does not glow in the dark.
I can hear and feel the movement working. Is that normal?
Yes. A gentle hum and a perceptible movement of the rotor (the weighted element that winds the movement) when you move your hand are normal operation of an automatic movement, not a defect.
My Dhamma Automatic has stopped. What should I do?
Most often the watch has simply run out of power reserve because it was not worn for more than 56 hours. This is not a defect.
My Dhamma Automatic suddenly gains or loses a lot of time. What happened?
The most common cause is magnetization of the movement, for example after lying next to a speaker or a laptop. The watch usually starts to run clearly fast then.
Condensation has appeared under the crystal of my Dhamma Automatic. What does it mean?
Moisture has got inside the case. This is urgent, because water can lead to corrosion of the movement.
How often does the Dhamma Automatic need servicing?
We recommend servicing by a qualified watchmaker every 2 to 3 years. During servicing the movement is cleaned, lubricated and regulated, and the seals are checked.
Where and from when can I buy the Dhamma Automatic?
We sell the Mudita Dhamma Automatic from 6 November 2026 in the store.mudita.com store, until all 108 pieces are sold.
Can I choose the number of my Dhamma Automatic?
No. You cannot choose or reserve a specific piece number.
Can I return the Dhamma Automatic?
Yes. Even though it is a limited edition, the Mudita Dhamma Automatic is subject to the standard return rules that apply in the Mudita store.
Dhamma Automatic user guide and warranty
The Mudita Dhamma Automatic has a 24-month warranty from the date of purchase. We repair factory defects found during this time free of charge.
