How to take care of the Dhamma Automatic

Updated 5 Nov 2026
Short answerWipe the watch with a soft, dry cloth, protect it from strong magnetic fields, shocks and extreme temperatures, and have it serviced by a watchmaker every 2 to 3 years. With such care the movement lasts for decades.

More about servicing in the article How often does the Dhamma Automatic need servicing?.

Cleaning

Wipe the case with a soft microfiber cloth, lightly dampened with lukewarm soapy water if needed. Clean the strap with a damp cloth, without detergents. Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, detergents, solvents and oils.

Magnetic fields

Do not leave the watch near speakers, laptops, smartphones, magnetic chargers or magnetic bag clasps. A magnet can disturb the work of the hairspring, the element responsible for the even running of the watch.

Temperature and shocks

Do not expose the watch to temperatures above 60°C or below 0°C, or to sudden temperature changes, such as a sauna followed by cold water. Take it off during contact sports, golf and work with heavy tools.

Storage

Keep the watch in a dry place, away from sunlight and magnets, preferably in the original box. If you do not wear it for several weeks, wind it with the crown from time to time so that the oils in the movement do not congeal.
