Does the Dhamma Automatic have religious significance?

Updated 5 Nov 2026
Short answerThe Mudita Dhamma Automatic is a watch, not an object of worship. Anyone can wear it, regardless of worldview.

It refers to a Buddhist symbol because it was created to commemorate the 13th Global Conference on Buddhism, held in Kraków in November 2026 and organized by the “Theravada” Foundation, and the name Mudita (sympathetic joy) comes from the same tradition.

We do not attribute any spiritual effect to the watch: the Dhamma Wheel is a reminder of values such as kindness, wisdom and mindfulness, and the rest is up to you. We used the symbol with respect for the Theravāda tradition, the oldest surviving school of Buddhism, and we consulted its meaning with the “Theravada” Foundation. We describe the symbolism of the wheel in the article What is the Dhamma Wheel on the Dhamma Automatic dial?.
