Display Frontlight and Bedside Lamp Explained

The Mudita Harmony's display frontlight is off by default and activates for 10 seconds at a time when needed. The Harmony also has a Bedside Lamp feature (added in system version 2.9.0), which activates the light for between 1-60 minutes, adjustable in the settings.

E-ink Display Visibility

Designed to imitate paper, the Mudita Harmony's display is readable with any light source reflecting off of its surface. This means that the clock's built-in display frontlight is only needed in dark environments and can stay off for most of the time, helping preserve battery life.

Frontlight Modes Explained

The Harmony's frontlight can operate in two modes, chosen in the settings:

  • Auto - any interaction with the clock will illuminate the display for 10 seconds.

  • On demand - pressing the light button will illuminate the display for 10 seconds. After turning on the frontlight, any interaction with the clock will keep the display illuminated for another 10 seconds.

Pressing the light button when the display is illuminated will turn off the frontlight, both in auto and on-demand mode.

Access the Frontlight Settings

  • When the clock is on its home screen, light-click the main knob on top of the device to enter the menu.

  • Twist the main knob right to scroll down to "Settings", then light-click it to enter this part of the menu.

  • In the "Settings" menu, scroll down to "Frontlight" and light-click the main knob to select.

  • Twist the main knob to choose the frontlight intensity and light-click to confirm your choice.

  • Twist the main knob to select the "Auto" or "On demand" frontlight mode and light-click to confirm your choice.

Bedside Lamp Feature Explained

With the release of OS version 2.9.0. the Harmony gained the Bedside lamp feature, which lets users illuminate the display for 1-60 minutes (adjustable in the settings).

  • To activate the Bedside lamp, press and hold the light button for about 2 seconds while the frontlight is off. The Bedside lamp won't activate if you hold the light button while the display is already illuminated.

  • The Bedside lamp brightness is set up independently of the general frontlight brightness.

  • On a Harmony with a system version older than 2.9.0, holding the light button for 2 seconds will illuminate the display for 10 minutes at the brightness level chosen in the frontlight settings.

The Bedside lamp can be turned off at any time by pressing the light button while the display is illuminated.

Access the Bedside Lamp Settings

  • When the clock is on its home screen, light-click the main knob on top of the device to enter the menu.
